Paris Pilgrimmage

Saturday, I went to Paris with three girls who were guests of Roger & Rosemary Saxe. In spite of the sunshine, it was windy and cold. We started out at the Arc de Triomphe.

The girls went to Paris Tuesday, so they had already climbed the Eiffel Tower, but they wanted to see it again.

We spent all afternoon at the Louvre. By the end of the day, I had quite a headache!

Saturday Notes

Last Saturday, I spent a few hours on a bicycle, distributing flyers in Feignies (along with three others from church). The day started out partly sunny; however, by noon it was drizzly and chilly.

Today, however, spring is in the air! It has been sunny and clear all day, though still a bit on the cool side. I opened my bedroom window to let in the fresh air (and to let out the germs ... I've had a cold since Wednesday night). I took a short walk down to the local grocery store and later a short drive into Belgium (the town of Erquelinnes is just minutes away). Unfortunately, my cold has drained my energy otherwise I'd go for a long walk along the river.

The first team for the year arrived yesterday. They are from Killarney, Manitoba. Today they left for Drulingen (Alsace region) where they will do maintenance work at France Pour Christ headquarters. They'll return on Thursday and work in the printshop Friday.

Back in France

I arrived yesterday afternoon, and it sure didn't seem like I'd been gone for four months. The BLF printshop team welcomed me with fresh croissants and pain au chocolat. Yummy!!! I have been craving fresh baguettes and pastries as well as yogurt. It's just not the same in the US.

My bedroom was "decorated" with posters from the Kapitaniuk kids.
What a nice surprise!

I did a little work in the shop, helping Roger at the folding machine. Got my things unpacked and was able to settle in before nightfall.

Today, I went grocery shopping as well as purchasing a few household items. Thankfully, the food prices here haven't varied much. Besides the 35 centimes for a baguette, the best buy here I think (compared to the US) is bottled water: a 6-pack of 1/2 liter bottles for only 69 centimes (that's $0.88).
