Out with the Old ...

Monday and Tuesday were spent tearing down the old brick wall in the garden of the printshop. Our neighbor said it was built in 1903. For quite some time, the neighborhood kids have been dismantling it (not by request). Rather than wait for them to finish, we did the work.

Our neighbor Roger has been a good help. Not only has he lent us his tools, he also pitched in and worked with us.
Today, the new fence was erected. It will be finished tomorrow.

Now That's a Nail!

Today's weather made me feel like I was in San Diego--clear skies and hot! After spending the morning cleaning the apartment, I went out this afternoon to do a bit of shopping. I was on the way home when I heard a clunkity-clunk sound just as I was about to get on the highway. Here's what I found protruding from the back left tire.
If I were in San Diego, I would have called AAA from my cell phone. But alas, here I am without cell phone and AAA. Instead, I walked about 3 miles (?), mostly along the river path, from Maubeuge to Recquignies to get help from the Kapitaniuks (the thought of hitchhiking did enter my mind!). I was thanking God that I didn't have to hike through forests or jungles or knee-high mud.

Farm Fun

A couple weeks ago, Stéphane shared milking privileges. Vicky was very patient as I attempted to milk her. She has two kids: the boy gets to nurse and the girl gets the bottle. The Kapitaniuks use some of Vicky's milk to make cheese. Yummy!

Farmer Daniel

Last night, I had the privilege of watching my nephew Daniel participate in his church's children's choir musical, Acorns to Oaks. He played the part of Spud and did a terrific job! (No, this wasn't in France--it was in Long Beach, CA, but I couldn't help sharing.)
