Maybe the title is a bit misleading. There have been many exciting moments during the 8 months I've been in France. However, the last two weeks before I left were definitely ones to keep me from wanting to go home.
I believe that my two older brothers have warped/influenced my interests--I get excited about big trucks and construction! (In college, I took a psych test that said I would be suited for going into construction, not teaching. Does that tell you anything?)
Anyway, two projects in full swing at the shop are remodeling the kitchen and putting in new flooring in the garage. Here are some pictures to show what's been happening.

The drywall was removed to be able to patch the brick (outside wall).

Steel framing for insulation and new drywall

Drywall and conduit for electrical outlets in place

I put on two basecoats

Before the old asphalt could be removed, the Wohlenberg had to go

Many people helped dig out the asphalt and layers of dirt and rock

I'm sorry to miss the concrete pouring in the garage and the installation of new flooring and cabinetry in the kitchen. (Sigh!) I'm hoping someone will send me pictures.
