My great uncle worked for the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. in the early 1900s. I found a newspaper article from 1910 that lauded the company: "Fairfield has generally been first in the delivery of vessels..." (http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=PBH19100606.2.6.2, Aug. 19, 2009).
This picture is taken from Partick, looking across the River Clyde.
